🧂 1/2 teaspoon salt
⚫ 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
🫒 3 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
🧄 1 large clove of garlic, minced
🍅 3/4 cup tomato sauce
🍏 1/2 cup cider vinegar
🍬 2 tablespoons brown sugar
🌶️ 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
🌿 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
🌱 Chopped fresh parsley (to decorate)
In a large bowl, mix the chicken thighs with salt, pepper and 2 teaspoons of olive oil.
Place the thighs on the air fryer at 200 °C for 10 minutes. This will help seal in the juices and begin the formation of that slightly golden layer that we like so much.
While the chicken cooks, heat 1 teaspoon oil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat.
Sauté the minced garlic for 1 minute, until golden and aromatic.
Add the tomato sauce, cider vinegar, brown sugar, smoked paprika and cumin.
Bring to a boil and then lower the heat to medium, cooking for 10 minutes so the flavors integrate.
Separate half of the sauce into a large heatproof bowl and reserve the other half for serving later.
Combine the pre-cooked thighs with the sauce in the bowl, making sure they are well coated.
Place the chicken back in the air fryerdiscarding any excess sauce from the bowl, and cook at 200°C for an additional 7–10 minutes, until golden brown and caramelized in spots.
When removing the thighs, sprinkle chopped fresh parsley for an aromatic and visual touch that elevates the dish. 🌿
If you want the outside to be crispier, add a final 2 minutes at 210°C.
For a more intense flavor, marinate the thighs in spices and oil for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
Serve with airfryer roasted potatoes or a fresh salad for a complete dish.
Homemade barbecue sauce can be prepared in advance and kept in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, perfect for improvising quick dinners.
