Air Fryer Chimichanga Ingredients – airfryer
4 flour tortillas
300 grams of shredded beef or chicken
1 small onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon oregano
Salt and pepper to taste

Chimichanga preparation with air fryer – airfryer
Step 1: Prepare the filling
In a skillet over medium heat, heat a little oil. Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic, and cook until tender. Add the shredded meat and season with cumin, chili powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and reserve.
Step 2: Heat the tortillas
To prevent the tortillas from breaking when rolled, warm them briefly before filling them. You can do it in the microwave or in a hot pan. Wrap tortillas in damp kitchen paper and microwave for 30 seconds or until soft and pliable.
Step 3: Fill and roll the chimichangas
Place one tortilla on a flat surface. Add a portion of the filling in the center of the tortilla. Fold the sides in, then roll the tortilla to form the chimichanga. Repeat this process with the remaining tortillas and the filling.
Step 4: Cook in the Air Fryer
Prepare the air fryer by preheating it to 200°C. Spray chimichangas with cooking spray to help brown and crisp them. Arrange the chimichangas in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not packed too tightly.
Air fry the chimichangas at 200°C for 10 minutes, then flip and cook for another 5 minutes until golden and crisp.
Step 5: Serve and enjoy
