Air Fryer Cheddar Stuffed Chicken Nuggets
🍗 2 chicken breasts (approx. 400 g)
🧀 100 g cheddar cheese, cubed
🥚 1 egg
🌾 50 g wheat flour
🍞 100 g breadcrumbs (panko optional)
🧂 Salt and pepper to taste
🌶️ Optional: garlic powder, paprika or your favorite spices
Prepare the chicken: Cut the breasts into medium pieces. If you want, flatten them slightly with a kitchen mallet to make it easier to fill them.
Fill with cheese: Place a cube of cheddar in the center of each piece of chicken. Close the chicken around the cheese forming a ball or nugget, making sure the cheese is well covered so it does not escape.
Breaded: Prepare three dishes: flour, beaten egg and breadcrumbs. Dip each nugget first in flour, then in egg and finally in breadcrumbs, covering them completely.
Cooking in the air fryer: Preheat to 200°C (390°F) for 3-5 minutes. Place the nuggets in the basket without crowding them. Cook for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through. They should be golden and crispy, with the melted cheddar cheese in the center.
Rest and serve: Let them rest 1-2 minutes before eating so the cheese doesn’t burn. Accompany them with barbecue sauce, honey mustard, ketchup or aioli.
