Light BBQ Barbecue Sauce with Thermomix

Recipe from our friend and collaborator Luz Maria Lagoa.

A homemade barbecue sauce, full of flavor and very easy to prepare with Thermomix, ideal to accompany your favorite dishes.

This recipe creates a sauce with that sweet, spicy and slightly smoky touch that combines perfectly with meats and appetizers.

Plus, you can easily customize it by increasing the spiciness, smokiness, or adjusting the texture to your tastes. Approximately half a liter of delicious homemade sauce comes out.

Light BBQ Barbecue Sauce with Thermomix

INGREDIENTS

  • 🍅 1 cup of ketchup (≈ 240 g)
  • 🍏 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (≈ 60 g)
  • 🟤 1/4 cup brown sugar (≈ 50 g)
  • 🥄 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 🌶️ 1 teaspoon sweet or smoked paprika
  • 🧄 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 🧅 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 🧂 Salt to taste
  • ⚫ Black pepper to taste
  • 🥜 Optional: 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 🍯 Optional: 1 tablespoon honey
  • 🔥 Optional: cayenne to taste

PREPARATION

Add the ingredients: Put the ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and optional ingredients in the Thermomix glass if you decide to use them.

Mix: Program 10 seconds at speed 4. Scrape down the remains from the sides of the glass with the spatula.

Kitchen: Program 15 minutes, 100°C, speed 2. Place the basket instead of the beaker so that it evaporates and thickens without splashing.

Test and adjust: When finished, taste the sauce. If you want it thicker, add 3-5 more minutes at Varoma temperature, speed 2 without measuring cup. If you want it more liquid, add 1 tablespoon of water and mix for 5 seconds at speed 3.

Cool and preserve: Let the sauce cool, as it will thicken more as it sits. Store it in a glass jar in the refrigerator, where it can last 2-3 weeks.

TIPS

  • 🌫️ For a smokier flavor: use smoked paprika and add 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke if you have it.
  • 🌶️ For a spicier sauce: increase the cayenne or add 1/2 seeded chilli at the beginning and blend for 5 seconds at speed 7 before the first step.
  • ✨ For a finer texture: shred for 20 seconds at speed 10 at the end.

This homemade barbecue sauce is perfect for ribs, wings, burgers or just for dipping. A simple recipe that always succeeds.
