Given the numerous voices that complained about possible rust problems in some Thermomix bowles ( in our google groups there was also great controversy)
The OCU ( Organization of consumers and users . Spain ) has contacted the manufacturer and has made its
That rust had been detected in the hole at the base of the glass of some units and that this problem occurred after a very short time of use (in some cases, in less than 15 days).
The response of the company indicated in the OCU was:
The glass of the thermomix is made of a metal alloy that forms a stainless steel with high resistance to corrosion. However, the area where rust appears (the one limited by the blue circle in the next photo)it is made with an alloy of dissimilar metals.
Vorwek pointed out that these Thermomix TM6 rust problems are probably due to a inappropriate use by customers and advised:
If rust still occurs, the manufacturer recommends users to use a metal scouring pad to easily remove traces of rust and to thoroughly dry the area after cleaning.
The company clarifies that this “problem” is merely aesthetic and that it does not affect the operation of the product, nor the result of the recipes.
However, the OCU takes several glasses to the laboratory
The OCU, not being 100% satisfied with the explanations, sent 4 glasses from different countries to the laboratory and they did washing tests and in the end 2 had rust samples and 2 did not.
They did 50 more washes to those that did not show rust and after all they were still rust-free
the conclusion by the OCU:
“This leads us to think that there are 2 production lines for cups; or, if they are manufactured on the same production line, at some point this element located at the base of the cups has been changed.
